SCOTT DAMERON AND JAY LADD V: News

Hello 2012! - January 5, 2012

Hi all!  I hope your holiday time was well-spent, and it's good to get back in touch.  We both had some quality down-time to enjoy home and family, but the New Year is upon us, and we are preparing for what should be an exciting and fulfilling 2012.  Before we talk about the future, we'd like to get you caught up with some exciting "Scott and Jay" news from the end of 2011:

In early November, we were honored to be chosen as 2011 Charlotte Music Awards Folk Artist of the Year.  The Charlotte Music Awards is an organization designed to showcase all apsects of music in Charlotte and all throughout the Carolina's.  After a series of musical showcases, the judges choose a "best of" from all genres of music, and then these awards are presented at their yearly Red Carpet Affair, which is held at Dalton Theater in Charlotte (sadly, we were not able to attend this event do to scheduling conflicts).  This is a great organization with quality people, and we were thrilled that we were given this honor.  Check them out out http://www.charlottemusicawards.org

About a week later, we were named 2011 Winner of the North Carolina Songwriters Co-Op Songwriters Contest, held in the Carrboro, NC at the ArtsCenter.  All of the finalists were deserving, so we know how fortunate and lucky we were to be named "Winner".  If you are a songwriter in NC, I strongly encourage you to get involved with this awesome organization.  You can get more info at http://www.ncsongwriters.org

So now what?  Well, we've begun adding shows (check out the calendar), with more to come.  We also hope to begin the recording process at some point this year - planning has begun, and we hope to have more information as we approach the summer months.

Thanks again for listening, and we hope to see you soon.

Hey Ya'll, it's Fall!!! - October 29, 2011

Hey guys - good to speak with you again.  It's been awhile since we updated things on here, so.....

 1.  Song Contests/Showcases

2.  November Shows (w/ The Cloers)

3.  "The Future"

 1.  Song Contests/Showcases - we are very excited  and honored to be part of two very cool events:

First of all, we have been nominated as a finalist in the Charlotte Music Awards (folk category).  We will perform with the other 7 nominees at the Charlotte Music Awards Folk Showcase on Saturday 10/29, at Puckett's Farm Equipment in Charlotte, NC.  This should be a fun night!  www.charlottemusicawards.org/home.cfm

We've also been named one of the eight finalists (for the second year in a row!) in the North Carolina Songwriters Co-op Song Contest, and we will perform at the finale on Saturday, 11/5 at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro.  This is a great event and organization with really cool people, and we couldn't be happier about being named a finalist for the second year in a row.  ncsongwriters.org/fr_home.cfm

The songs that have allowed us to be a part of these great events can be heard on our album, "Walker 904A", which can be purchased though Itunes - itunes.apple.com/us/album/walker-904a/id391863481 , CDBaby - www.cdbaby.com/cd/scottdameronandjayladdv , and many other digital retailers - just go to our music page!  Of course, we have the old-fashioned hard copy version available at our shows, if you feel so inclined!  Remember, there are only 61 shopping days remaining until Christmas, and people love music...

 2.  November shows with The Cloers!!!

John and Cate Cloer are a husband and wife performing songwriter duo from Charlotte, NC, and they also happen to be our good friends  www.thecloers.com/home.cfm.  They are both great writers and performers, and we're thrilled to be playing 3 shows with them in November:  November 4 at the Artspace in Raleigh (First Friday Raleigh!), November 12 at 202 Wines in Mooresville, and November 19 at Marsh Woodwind Upstairs.  For more info, check out the calendar section.

 3.  "The Future"

So, after our show on November 19th, we will be taking a couple of months off from "gigging", in order to dedicate the majority of our "Scott and Jay" time to writing and planning our next album.  We also hope to begin the recording process at some point in the next few months, in hopes that we can release our second album in 2012.  We do hope to have some shows scheduled as early as late January/early February 2012, so stay tuned!

Thanks again for your continued support and encouragement - this last year or so has been a blast, and we look forward to what "the future" holds!

Have a great day, and as always, thanks for listening.

Yep, It's hot. Happy Summer! - July 22, 2011

Hey guys - it's been awhile, so here's a little "Scott and Jay" update for you. I know you've all been waiting for it.  As I write this, my (Scott) 2 year old is running around the house in a fit of craziness (while my wife attempts to sleep from an overnight shift), so I apologize in advance for the disjointed nature of this message.  We need a publicist...

1.  Cool stuff since we last spoke

2.  Future stuff

3.  Thank You

1.  As many of you know, we were extremely lucky to be chosen as a finalist in the 2011 Wildflower Performing Songwriter Contest held in Richardson, TX.  What an amazing experience - we were treated so well, and we met so many cool people while we were there - we can't wait to get back to Texas.  Here's a shot of us on stage during the festival/contest:

We also had the the honor and pleasure of opening a show for one of our favorite performing songwriters (and dear friend) David LaMotte a couple of weeks ago at the White Horse in Black Mountain, NC.  Here's a video of us from the show:

2.  So, we've got some cool stuff coming up - we'll be in Asheville during the Bele Chere Festival, playing at the French Broad Chocolate Lounge frenchbroadchocolates.com/ on July 30th.  We'll back in the mountains for the Sourwood Festival in Black Mountain www.blackmountainmusicscene.com/2011/02/aug-12-14-sourwood-festival-2011.html on August 13th.  We're also very excited that our friend, former bandmate, and fabulous guitarist/songwriter Dave Pandolfi will be joining us for a few shows (July 30 at French Broad Chocolate Lounge, and August 5 at Loco Lu's www.locolu.com/ ).  For more info on our schedule, just click on the Calendar tab - hope to see you all somewhere down the road.

 3.  Well, it's been about a year since we released our CD, Walker 904A.  We've had a blast getting back into this "music thing", and we really appreciate all of you who have supported us during the past year.  We're excited about where we're going, and we hope you join us - we've begun talking about our "next CD", so stay tuned - we will need all the support we can get!

Have a great remainder of the summer, and as always, thanks for listening.

Hey Spring... - March 4, 2011

Hey ya'll - well, Spring is almost here, and we're excited about the months ahead.  But before we talk about the future, we just got back from our first "Folk Conference" experience in Memphis, and it was really an amazing few days.  We met some new friends, heard some great music, and felt inspired by the surroundings.  Can't wait to do it again next year!

We've got a busy couple of months coming up, and we're anxious to introduce some of these new songs - you can check out our schedule on the calendar page, but we did want to mention a couple of shows/events that we're really excited about:

On Friday, March 25th at 8:00pm, we will be playing a show with our friends, the Cloers, http://www.thecloers.com (2010 Charlotte Singer-Songwriters of the Year) at Marsh Woodwinds Upstairs, which is a great listening room in Raleigh.  This will be really fun, and we hope you can make it out!

On Friday, April 1st at 8:00pm, we'll be back for our return trip to the Broad Street Cafe in Durham - great food, drinks, and a nice big stage - woohoo!  Can't wait for this one.  Again, click on the calendar link to the left for more info about these shows and more!

Good to check in with you - we'll keep you updated as we go along.  Hope to see you soon!

Hello 2011! - January 11, 2011

Hey ya'll - just wanted to touch base and update you on our little "Scott and Jay" world:

We're going to Memphis!  Yep, that's right, we're going to the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, 2/17-2/20.  We'll be playing some private showcases, but primarily we're excited about hearing all the great music, and meeting so many amazing artists.  Should be fun!

We've got a cool show coming up at Open Eye Cafe' on Friday, 1/28/11 in Carrboro, NC.  We'll be doing the old Nashville style "In the Round", with a couple of really great songwriters, Jamie Purnell and Wes Collins.  So come on out and relax as we pass the guitar around and sing some songs for you.  The show will be from 8pm-11pm.

Please check our calendar for more upcoming shows in the next few weeks/months etc.  Should be a great year ahead!
